The social and economic inclusion of people living with a disability remains a major challenge. Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, in particular, often face difficulties accessing training, employment and opportunities for financial autonomy. Faced with this reality, ONGD Soleil Levant is committed to offering them new prospects through a project supporting vocational training centers.
The project aims to improve the living conditions of deaf and hard-of-hearing people by giving them access to adapted vocational training. The goal is to enable them to acquire practical skills, develop their autonomy and take an active part in economic and social life.
Through this program, beneficiaries will be able to train in several fields, notably:
The project is carried out in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the city of Kinshasa, more precisely in the Kingabwa neighborhood, Limete municipality.
This initiative is aimed mainly at deaf and hard-of-hearing people, while also taking into account other people living with disabilities and in vulnerable situations.
Soleil Levant’s ambition is to go beyond simple training. The project aims to create the conditions needed for beneficiaries to develop their potential and gradually become autonomous.
Training combines theoretical learning and professional practice in order to give learners skills that are directly useful for their future.
The project plans to train 250 beneficiaries across different trades. This initiative will not only strengthen their professional skills but also help improve their living conditions.
Through this project, ONGD Soleil Levant reaffirms its commitment to a society where everyone, whatever their abilities, can have access to learning, employment and a dignified life.
Investing in the training of deaf and hard-of-hearing people means promoting inclusion, autonomy and equal opportunities.
Bateke Plateau · Sweet potatoes: 14 t out of 15 t expected
This project, carried out by ONGD Soleil Levant, had as its main objective to improve local communities’ food security by increasing agricultural production and strengthening producers’ capacities.
Thanks to the support received, the project made it possible to acquire quality seeds and farm equipment and to fund the labor needed to start agricultural activities.
As part of the project, several actions were carried out, notably:
The project achieved encouraging results, particularly for certain crops.
| Crop | Expected yield | Actual yield |
|---|---|---|
| Sweet potatoes | 15 tonnes | 14 tonnes |
| Cassava | 27 tonnes | 2 tonnes |
Sweet potato crops almost reached the set targets, with a production of 14 tonnes out of the 15 tonnes expected.
However, cassava production was severely affected by the Mobondo phenomenon and the disruption it caused to agricultural activities.
The project faced difficulties linked to the Mobondo phenomenon, which caused:
Despite these difficulties, protection and intervention efforts made it possible to save part of the harvests.
The results obtained show the importance of continuing agricultural initiatives and strengthening mechanisms that protect producers in the face of crises and social disruption.

Goal: over 25 m² per day
As part of its actions for sustainable development and environmental protection, ONGD Soleil Levant is carrying out a project to strengthen the production capacity of eco-friendly paving stones, notably from plastic waste.
This project addresses a double challenge: fighting plastic pollution and creating income-generating activities. By turning plastic waste into useful materials for construction and landscaping, the initiative helps improve the environment while creating economic opportunities for beneficiaries.
Plastic waste management is a major challenge for communities. Through the production of eco-friendly paving stones, Soleil Levant wishes to give this waste a second life and promote concrete solutions for a cleaner environment.
However, current production capacity remains limited. Daily production is estimated at 8 m² of paving stones, and the project aims to strengthen this capacity to reach more than 25 m² per day, or about 600 m² per month.
The project mainly aims to:
To achieve these objectives, the project plans to strengthen production capacity through the acquisition of suitable materials and equipment.
Through this initiative, ONGD Soleil Levant shows that it is possible to turn an environmental problem into a development opportunity. Every piece of recovered plastic waste thus becomes a useful resource, contributing to environmental protection, better living conditions and the economic development of communities.
The eco-friendly paving stone production project fits Soleil Levant’s vision: promoting innovative, sustainable and inclusive solutions serving people and the environment.
Concrete results serving communities.
