Training to foster autonomy
Soleil Levant promotes access to adapted vocational training so that beneficiaries can acquire practical skills, develop their autonomy and take an active part in economic and social life.
Training combines theoretical learning and professional practice, particularly for deaf and hard-of-hearing people in Kinshasa.
Setting up a vocational training center for deaf people and other able-bodied people, with the following courses:
- Cutting and sewing;
- Beauty and hairdressing;
- Hospitality and catering;
- Processing;
- Painting;
- Languages and literacy;
- IT;
- Audiovisual;
- Entrepreneurship.
Environment
Protect the environment and recover waste
As part of its actions for sustainable development and environmental protection, Soleil Levant notably recovers plastic waste through the production of eco-friendly paving stones.
This initiative addresses a double challenge: fighting plastic pollution and creating income-generating activities.
Reforestation and sanitation
- Fighting climate change through reforestation: since 2020, more than 200 eucalyptus trees have been planted, as well as more than 100 fruit trees on our farms;
- Neighborhood sanitation: Soleil Levant launched the Kingabwa Bopeto project, together with Kin Bopeto, of the city-province of Kinshasa.
Agro-pastoral
Improve communities’ food security
Soleil Levant has farms in the villages of Menkao, Nayvele and Kinsele, where the organization spreads farming methods and techniques related to food security.
Soleil Levant supports farming communities to improve food security, through the acquisition of quality seeds and farm equipment, and the strengthening of production practices and techniques.
The organization wishes to continue supporting local farmers, strengthen communities’ resilience and promote sustainable and inclusive agriculture.
Agriculture, livestock and fish farming
Soleil Levant invests in agriculture, livestock and the fight against hunger, by improving and spreading new farming, livestock and fish-farming methods.
Gender & Inclusion
Promote equality and empowerment
Soleil Levant takes into account the problems facing women and children in order to address them through a gender approach.
Soleil Levant takes into account the specific realities and needs of women, girls and people in vulnerable situations in order to help reduce inequalities and discrimination.
Through a gender-sensitive approach, the organization works to strengthen the empowerment of women and girls, encourage their participation in social and economic life and promote a more inclusive and equitable environment.
Social action
Supporting people in vulnerable situations
Soleil Levant provides support to people and communities facing vulnerability, exclusion or hardship. Through social and humanitarian actions, the organization helps meet essential needs and improve the living conditions of the people it supports.
Our main beneficiaries
Deaf and hard-of-hearing people
Soleil Levant supports about 200 deaf and hard-of-hearing people, notably through medical care, training, food support and other forms of assistance adapted to their needs.
Orphans and vulnerable children
The organization visits orphanages, where children receive money and food as well as other forms of assistance.
Widows and elderly people
Soleil Levant supports widows and elderly people, particularly those in situations of hardship or isolation.
Detained persons
The organization also carries out support actions for detained persons, notably through visits to Makala Central Prison, to provide assistance and maintain a human link with people deprived of liberty.
Our commitment
Through these interventions, Soleil Levant wishes to help preserve the dignity of vulnerable people and promote their social inclusion, by providing a concrete response to their essential needs.
Community health
Prevent, raise awareness and promote health within communities
Soleil Levant contributes to improving community health through awareness, prevention and information actions on the main public health issues.
The organization notably runs awareness campaigns on:
- Malaria, notably on means of prevention and good protection practices;
- HIV/AIDS, through information, prevention and the fight against stigma;
- COVID-19, through awareness of preventive measures and health-promoting behavior;
- Sickle cell disease, notably through information and community awareness.
Through these actions, Soleil Levant works to strengthen people’s knowledge, encourage preventive behavior and contribute to better handling of health issues at community level.
